For the Love Thy Neighbourhood podcast series, Time Out London editor Joe Mackertich invites famous Londoners to show him around their favourite bit of the city and to share their tales and anecdotes about the spots they love.
Time Out London has announced the launch of its first podcast series on 1 August. The podcast series called Love thy Neighbourhood will feature 12 weekly episodes with each celebrating a London neighbourhood seen through the eyes of famous Londoners, picked by Time Out London’s editorial team.
This will not be a sit-down-in-a-studio kind of podcast, instead each guest will take Time Out’s London Editor and podcast host Joe Mackertich on a walking tour of their favourite bit of the city, popping into shops, restaurants, parks and pubs that hold a special place in their hearts. The podcast series opens with drag icon Bimini showing Time Out around Bankside, followed by other well-known talents such as actor, comedian and rapper Doc Brown for a stroll through Kilburn, and comedian Chloe Petts sharing tales and anecdotes about Streatham.
FREENOW – the mobility super app – are the launch sponsor for the podcast series with pre, mid and post roll presenter reads in each episode and a bespoke multi-platform campaign developed by Time Out’s Creative Solutions Team to complement the audio activity. The campaign spans Time Out London digital channels including social video and posts, digital features and CRM, showing how FREENOW facilitates mobility across London and beyond. Each podcast episode will wrap up in the guests’ favourite neighbourhood pub which will be used as a backdrop for a social video series across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook featuring the interviewees sharing their favourite things to do in the capital.
Rob Biagioni, MD at Time Out London said: “Our first Time Out London podcast Love thy Neighbourhood will be a fresh and fun source of inspiration for all those who want to make the most of London and get under the skin of the city’s neighbourhoods – in true Time Out style, this will be entertaining and useful thanks to intimate chats with the interviewees, hosted by Joe Mackertich, our Time Out London Editor.
“As we explore new digital channels to connect with and expand our audience, we are proud to launch our first podcast series together with FREENOW who we have worked with on bespoke campaigns before. They are a perfect partner for this project as the mobility app gets you everywhere you need to go in London and beyond, including the fascinating neighbourhoods at the heart of our podcast which we encourage everyone to explore.”
Joe Mackertich, Time Out London Editor added: “You’d be out of your tree to miss this one. Being shown around weird bits of London by famous people is such a good idea, it’s a miracle no one’s done it before. Crucially, they haven’t. Because they’re simply not as good as us.”
Michelle de Maat, Head of Marketing at FREENOW UK commented: “Time Out’s Love thy Neighbourhood podcast series is a celebration of London’s hidden gems and inspiring creators – all of which are central to Time Out as is the commitment to communities which aligns directly with FREENOW’s’s brand DNA. Together we help people experience the city and the unique moments it has to offer – with FREENOW providing mobility solutions that help people to move around easily.
“After several successful projects, we are excited to be working with Time Out once again, tapping into the team’s local expertise, creativity and connections in the city, which is at the heart of this podcast series and the bespoke campaign around it, created with Time Out’s experience hungry audience in mind.”
