Time Out Group today announces its expansion in to Portugal. The global platform will be taking over the franchise that has been publishing magazines and guides in the country’s key cities for 8 years, where it is a trusted source of inspiration for locals and visitors to find the best of the city.
The Time Out brand in Portugal includes successful Portuguese language two main magazines and guides in Lisbon and Porto amongst others, as well as an established digital audience, with a Facebook community of over 300,000. This is in addition to its food and cultural market, Mercado da Ribeira, in Lisbon.
Time Out’s Portuguese cities will be launched on its global digital and mobile platform, enabling digital audience growth at pace.
“When the opportunity arose to acquire Time Out Portugal, we jumped at the chance to invest in the local entertainment scene in two vibrant cities of Lisbon and Porto,” said Julio Bruno, Executive Chairman of Time Out Group. “In just 12 months we’ve seen Time Out Mercado da Ribeira in Lisbon become a number one tourist attraction in the city on TripAdvisor. Its success offers us the opportunity to combine our inspiration, experience and commerce for the first time, giving our users the best of the Time Out digital experience in the physical world, under one roof.
“Time Out’s global platform has a presence in over 100 cities, with a monthly worldwide audience reach of over 60 million, so this acquisition presents further opportunity to scale with our world class digital and mobile offering. We’re putting the city in the palm of your hand to discover, book and share, wherever you are in the world.”
