Part gay cabaret, part eco-epic, George Miller’s latest mixes discocentric vocal mash-ups with the darker, more surreal sensibilities of his last kids’ flick, Babe: Pig in the City. Tap-crazy, atonal emperor penguin Mumble (Wood) can’t find his heart song, so he hooks up with some Latino Adlies and devotes his life to combating mankind’s rape of the environment. Awkward but graceful, derivative but daring, Happy Feet is, indeed, a flightless bird in the best and worst sense. (Opens Fri; Click here for venues.) — Stephen Garrett
