Opened in March 2016 right by Kichijoji's Inokashira Park and only a quick walk from the Ghibli Museum, Uni Stand offers an alternative to the ubiquitous 'third wave' coffeeshops by serving up artisanal green tea, brewed by a self-styled 'cha-rista' (tea barista, natch). Try out the Uji Matcha Au Lait (hot ¥520, iced ¥560), made by the master himself: since no additional sugar goes in the drink, you can taste the flavourful bitterness of the matcha, perfectly complemented by the creamy milk. Order an Uji Matcha (hot ¥480, iced ¥520) if you’re keen on trying it straight, and simply add sugar if you have a sweet tooth.
