Okinawa-based photographer Kunio Chano dives deep into a vibrant African subculture with 'The Sapeur', a new photobook that documents the style, convictions and fab lifestyles of Brazzaville's most fashionable characters. Les sapeurs are famed for staying dapper in the face of crushing poverty, war and social strife, and have become something of a symbol for the Congolese capital's enduring vitality. This exhibit at Shibuya's Seibu features over 200 photos, plus video interviews and an intro to the 'rules of the sapeur', and thus provides a comprehensive look at the lives of these ever-trendy gentlemen.
