Your guide to the best happenings in Zurich this May

After some glorious sunny days, April has given us a rather cold send-off. Time to look ahead and hope for warmer times to come in May as the badis are opening their gates again (May 14), outdoor markets start popping up across town and restaurants start serving food and drinks on terraces. Here’s our top ten for the month of May.

1. Sundeck Sunday

Enough of all that shopping, time for a relaxing Sunday. Enjoy the sun, sip on a cold drink, chat with friends and make the most of your weekend at lakeside restaurant Quai 61. Their sundeck is definitely one of the finest in town, offering cocktails and nibbles and stunning views of the lake.

2. Zürich tanzt

After a few successful years of Zurich’s 'Tanzfest', its organisers are back with something bigger: 'Zürich tanzt' is a festival held at various locations throughout town and aiming at getting everybody’s feet shaking and tapping.

Sunday brunch at the Fork & Bottle
With its gastropub feel and location in a park by the river Sihl, the Fork & Bottle has become somewhat of an expat hub in Zurich for English speakers. And this is by no means a bad thing.

Metropol
The riot of cherry blossom that greets you as you enter Metropol, a stylish restaurant occupying a jaw-dropping neo-Baroque building off Zurich’s Paradeplatz, sets the scene for what follows. Metropol cuisine is influenced by East Asia, with its menu featuring exquisite sushi and sashimi concocted by a Thai sushi master.
