This new exhibition showcases the prolific creativity of André Robillard, 50 years after his first piece of work caught the attention of Jean Dubuffet, the founder of the Art Brut movement. That first piece – a rifle made from scrap salvaged from rubbish heaps and held together with wire and scotch tape – features in this exhibition along with many other artworks from the huge body of work that Robillard has produced in the half century since his psychiatrist told Dubuffet about him. Showcased here are firearms, planes, sputnicks and animals made of wood, plus a unique musical instrument created by Robillard, the ‘cartridge pail’.
