Time Out says

The mysterious remains of a Buddhist monastery are found residing inside a dense nature reserve of Ritigala Kanda (mountain). Ritigala Mountain is the highest mountain in the north central dry plains of Sri Lanka. The nature reserve has 70 rock caves spread through the dense growth and it is believed that monks had been living secluded in this monastery since the first century BC. Ruins of the monastery unveil the ancient Sri Lankan monastic architecture of Sri Lanka and the mountain and the nature reserve is truly a paradise for an eco travel enthusiast.

Entry is restricted to academicians and people with research interest.
