Time Out says

After captivating audiences in its sold-out 2016 run, Disgraced is back and ready to stir emotions once again. Presented by the Singapore Repertory Theatre, the show stars Ghafir Akbar, winner of 2024’s ‘ST Life Theatre Awards Best Actor’.

Grab a seat and get ready for a riveting Pulitzer Prize-winning drama-filled play swirling with tension, centering on three controversial topics: race, religion, and discrimination. Set in the aftermath of 9/11 in America, protagonist Amir, a South Asian Muslim, embodies the American Dream as a successful lawyer married to an American beauty. The provocative narrative erupts at a lavish dinner party with his African American colleague and her Jewish husband where things spiral into a searing debate, igniting a fierce discourse on race, religion, and societal hierarchy. The intense conflict will leave you departing the theatre questioning the concept of racial harmony and societal inequalities.

It doesn’t end when the curtain falls as well –  there will be a post-show dialogue after each performance for those eager to delve deeper into the provocative topics raised in the play.

Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar will run from August 13 to September 7, 2024 at the KC Arts Centre. Tickets are priced from $50, and you’ll get to enjoy a 15 percent discount when you purchase four tickets and more. Rated R18 - Mature Theme.
