The inventive all-day breakfast menu is only the icing on the cake of this newly opened, much-needed CBD café. Try the Darling’s Eggs ($10.50 for two): sourdough adorned with a thin layer of ham and cheese, slices of Roma tomatoes and a poached egg. Or Dean’s Breakfast ($9.50 for two): strips of toast lathered in butter and Vegemite, ready for a dip in the egg. The Melbourne-inspired, chic’n’laidback vibe is achieved with bare designer light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, cement-washed walls and a bright red ladder displaying imported design magazines. Genovese coffees ($3.80), homebaked sweets ($4.80) and sandwiches ($8) are being offered as well. It’s like visiting someone’s home and wishing you were the one living there instead. James P Ong
