Just around the corner from E&O hotel and a stone's throw away from George Town, Beach Blanket Babylon (BBB) is within the premises of 32 at The Mansion. While the latter offers a fine dining menu, BBB allows you to be casual in its outdoorsy location overlooking the sea.

Its kitchen opens from lunch time till 10pm and cooks up Western main dishes such as burger and fries, fish and chips and grilled boneless chicken breast, from RM24++ to a small selection of salads. Familiar appetisers or snacks such as fried battered calamari, wedges and bruschetta are from RM7++.

There are also local dishes such as their popular creamy laksa, mee mamak and fried rice from RM14++. It is a good move to have local favourites here since they're pretty authentic, comes in a generous serving with fresh seafood as part of its ingredients. Although their Western fare is perfectly adequate and satisfying, I'd suggest you try their creamy Nyonya laksa that is a total crowd pleaser. Their mee mamak, on the other hand, is a serious contender for the popularity title too and both dishes boasts large, fresh prawns.

Furthermore, this eatery is pork-free and its ambience is unbeatable. There is always a salty breeze floating through the premises and the rhythmic sounds of waves hitting the beach will open up your appetite, There's a decent wine list on hand with a glass of house wine at RM22++. Complementary parking is easily available too. Su Aziz
