The lyrics for Makthaverskan's excellent 2014 album, II, are riddled with f-bombs—"Fuck you for fucking me / When I was 17," belts vocalist Maja Milner on "No Mercy—but what's so captivating about the band is the way it contrasts angsty sentiments with bittersweet, at times even blissful-sounding postpunk. The Gothenburg, Sweden, quintet, whose name connotes feminine power in the group's native tongue, was scheduled to play Vitus back in March but had to cancel due to visa issues; fingers crossed Milner & Co. turn up here as scheduled.
