Green-Wood Cemetery is home turf for horror writer Andrea Janes; the author of Boroughs of the Dead: New York City Ghost Stories lived across the street from the historic 478-acre burial ground for four years. On her spine-tingling walking tour, you'll visit such chilling sites as the grave of Harvey Burdell, whose mistress was acquitted of his grisly murder in a sensational 1857 trial, and that of John Anderson, associated with the death of beautiful tobacco-store salesgirl Mary Rogers in 1841. You can also pay your respects at the Brooklyn Theatre Fire Memorial, which marks the mass grave of 103 victims of the 1876 fire that claimed 278 lives.
