Spring and summer are filling up with shows, and picking just 10 was not easy. But here’s a cross-section of upcoming hot tickets on Broadway and Off, giving you a sense of what a busy and varied year it’s going to be. Expect a rush of openings in March and April, as everyone crowds in for Tony Award eligibility. Of note is the flood of British fare on Broadway—with historical pageants that survey the reign of King Henry VIII (Wolf Hall: Parts 1 & 2) and Queen Elizabeth II (The Audience). Lincoln Center Theater is gearing up with another lavish Rodgers & Hammerstein revival, The King and I. And let’s not forget that the most daring material often appears Off Broadway, such as the Internet thriller The Nether and a return of Elevator Repair Service’s theatrical rendition of William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury (April Seventh, 1928). Whatever your taste, you’ll find a feast this year.
