Upper West Siders looking for a clean, green, affordable place to get pampered should make an appointment at this classy nail salon. Opened by obsessively hygienic sisters Micki and Susan Nam, the white, well-lit space features six black pedicure chairs and seven manicure stations as well as two small rooms where estheticians do waxing and facials. Offering a full, impeccably organized range of nail lacquers from Essie and the chemical-free Zoya, Polished also uses all-natural, cruelty-free citrus and lavender-scented products from beauty line Pharmacopia during pedicures ($30) and manicures ($12). Tools are sanitized with medical-grade equipment, the salon air is filtered and clients’ shoes are de-stinkified for free in a Klenz Sanitizer that uses ion technology to kill odor-causing bacteria. Go the extra mile with an eyebrow and lip wax ($12 each) or a 60-minute signature facial ($80).
