Around the corner from the Museum of Natural History, the Columbus Avenue market sprawls out from the gymnasium and hallways of M.S. 44 across a large asphalt playground. Hipsters and blue-hairs mix with local families and regulars who pick up fresh produce and baked goods in the Greenmarket portion, then leaf through old encyclopedias and comic books, secondhand clothing, discounted beauty goods and handmade jewelry in the flea market. One of the more kitschy markets in town, Greenflea offers booths full of tie-dye creations, buttons and baubles from the attic alongside troves of great vintage dresses and handmade quilts. In the summer months, it's open until 6pm.
