Former Vidal Sassoon employees Mark Sweet, Lai Sweeching, Clint Kelly and Kelly Lin—whose initials together form the titular SCK—have branched out and opened their own 24-chair salon, in a sprawling space that once housed a dance studio. Sweet personally had a hand in the industrial yet warm decor, featuring exposed-brick walls, poured-concrete coffee tables, leather couches and a rotating gallery displaying the works of local artists (it currently shows the photography of husband-and-wife duo Formento & Formento, $800–$2,400). Shu Uemura, Wella and Kerastase products are exclusively used in services such as cuts ($98–$148), color ($95–$285), conditioning treatments ($30–$60), blowouts ($50–$100) and updos ($150–$250). There’s also a private room for getting manicures ($22) and pedicures ($40) with O.P.I. and Essie lacquers, as well as a Giella Custom Blend makeup bar, which offers full-face ($75) and lash ($30) applications. Since all of the brand’s cosmetics are custom-blended on the spot, you can have a discontinued lipstick re-created ($28) or bring in a favorite sweater and have a matching nail polish ($25) whipped up before your eyes.
