This noise duo's spastic noise-metal wallop is one of the most thrilling sounds in contemporary rock—and that's doubly true live. Even though the famed and feared Providence bass-drums outfit has abandoned its no-stages policy and opted to record its last LP, Fantasy Empire, in a proper studio, Lightning Bolt's gleefully brutal aesthetics remain gloriously intact. The band plays in a special evocative installation setup "Grand Ole Opera," built by Tennessee-born artist Willie Stewart.
