Joe Fiedler, a trombonist known for his remarkable array of timbral effects, gigs in support of Sackbut Stomp, the latest from his highly enjoyable brass choir, Big Sackbut. Much like its model, the World Saxophone Quartet, the group—Fiedler, fellow trombonists Ryan Keberle and Luis Bonilla, and tuba player Jose Davila—skillfully compensates for the lack of a rhythm section as it contrasts boisterous and reflective moods.
