Broadway Barks connects stars and adorable dogs (SLIDE SHOW)

Broadway Barks is back to find homes for adorable dogs and cats, with a little help from Broadway’s brightest stars.

Each year in Shubert Alley, the pet-adoption organization Broadway Barks brings together adorable pooches (and cats) and theater’s biggest stars. Hosted by animal-rights activists Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, the free outdoor event takes place in the heart of the theater district: 44th and 45th Streets between Broadway and Eighth Avenues. The furry action begin at 3:30 on July 14. Celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will start at 5pm.

This year, Broadway Barks 14’s celebrity participants will include Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher), Tom Edden (One Man, Two Guvnors), Jessica Hecht (Harvey), Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Ghost) and Ben Vereen, with a special performance by The Craze.
