What is the 9/11 Memorial & Museum?
The 9/11 Museum, located where the Twin Towers once stood, explores the history of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The museum houses artifacts, historical records, firefighting equipment and a memorial exhibition. Tours with expert guides are available.
Outside the museum is the memorial, which honors the 2,977 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing on February 26, 1993. The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest man-made waterfalls in North America. Outdoor memorial audio guides are available for purchase on site. While outside, also look for the 9/11 Memorial Glade and The Survivor Tree.

Public transit is easiest. By Subway: A, C, 1, 2, or 3 to Chambers Street; A, C, J, Z, 2, 3, 4, or 5 trains to Fulton Street; 2 or 3 trains to Park Place; E train to World Trade Center; R train to Rector Street; R train to Cortlandt Street; or 1 train to WTC Cortlandt.
How much are tickets to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum?
For the museum, adult general admission costs $33. Kids' tickets range from $21-$27, depending on age.
New Yorkers can visit for free during New York First Mondays, a program offering free admission during evening hours on the first Monday of each month.
The outdoor 9/11 Memorial is free to visit.
What special events are on site?
Every Wednesday afternoon at 1:30pm, a bagpipe tribute honors those who died on 9/11 as well as those who are sick or who have died from exposure to hazards and toxins in the aftermath of 9/11. Bagpipers play outdoors near the 9/11 Memorial Glade.
