One of the great pleasures of dance can be watching gorgeous bodies in motion. There’s no shortage of that in Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s new two-week engagement at Lincoln Center, which celebrates the athleticism of dancers of color. Among the company’s offerings will be new productions of two classics: Robert Battle’s all-male The Hunt (2001), which explores our predatory natures; and Ulysses Dove’s all-female Verspers (1987), inspired by the choreographer’s memories of his grandmother’s church. To help whet your whistle for the Ailey engagement, one of New York’s premiere dance shows, here are twelve of the beautiful dancers (including Yannick Lebrun) who will be performing in those two works. Why should the hottest chorus boys and girls on Broadway get all the attention?
