HERE and Beth Morrison Projects prove that thrilling opera continues to bloom as their festival returns for a fifth season that ranges across venues, genres and boroughs. This year's lineup includes Matt Marks and Paul Peers's Mata Hari, inspired by the World War I femme fatale; Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek's Breaking the Waves, based on Lars Von Trier's bleak film; David Lang and Mark Dion's anatomy theater, which draws on medical texts from the 17th and 18th centuries; M. Lamar, Hunter Hunt-Hendrix and Tucker Culbertson's Funeral Doom Spiritual, performed solo by Lamar; and Sarah Small's multimedia Secondary Dominance.
