Don’t be fooled—this balloon-filled room is not a tribute to Nena’s classic hit, “99 Red Balloons.” It is, however, an interactive art installation dubbed “Work No. 2592” by Martin Creed, a British artist and Turner prize-winner, which is open for some child-like revelry. Yep, it’s a ball pit for adults!
Note: This is not Creed’s first balloon-room (he’s completed several over the years), but we certainly hope it won’t be his last, as it appears to be really freakin' fun (or super terrifying, if you have a traumatizing ball pit memory or a fear of loud popping noises, like this writer).
Get ready to “swim” in a sea of latex and take a bazillion selfies and videos, but prepare your mane for some serious static. The room is open through December 19 at Gavin Brown's Enterprise (291 Grand St) from noon to 6pm, so make sure you go before all of the balloons deflate. Oh, and just make sure to leave your studded leather jacket at home—just in case.
