Let’s be frank, one of the best days of summer—a.k.a. hot dog season—is back. Today, you can find cheap hot dogs and hot dog-themed activities at places across the city. It’s all in honor of National Hot Dog, something Wikipedia describes as “an informal event celebrated in communities across the hotdog-eating world.” OK, then!
Check out where you should hit up below, and start your backyard weekend barbecue two days early this week. (Just don’t think too much about what’s in the meat.)
7/11 (Various Locations) The ubiquitous convenience store is offering quarter pound big bite hot dogs for just $1 at select locations across the city.
Bark Hot Dogs (474 Bergen St) Wish the staff “Happy Hot Dog Day” and you can get 1/2 off your second dog.
Callahan’s (10 Broad St) Just across the Hudson River, this Bergen County hot dog vendor is giving away free quarter-pound hot dogs from 11am to 9pm.
New York Dog House (37-06 30th Ave) The Astoria hot dog mecca is throwing their Second Annual NYDH Signature Dog Eating Contest to celebrate the tasty holiday tonight.
You could also try to catch the Oscar Mayer Wiener Rover as it moves around the city today. Snap a selfie and you could get a free dog.
