Is it your special time of the month? Having your period doesn’t have to suck.
U by Kotex just opened a three-day pop-up shop in support of local women’s shelter Susan’s Place including The Period Projects, and the girl-power storefront makes surfing the crimson wave seem like a f*cking blast!
One of Gotham’s most stylish New Yorkers—Keiko Lynn—gave her followers a sneak peek of the merchandise, which includes pad-shaped pins, tampon-print sweaters, feminist memorabilia and, of course, chocolate. (Wait, is this heaven?)
The brilliant idea stems from a badass babe named Sarah M. who wanted a space where she can feel “comfortable and respected during an otherwise shitty time of the month.” Right on, lady.
To bring even more joy to your ovaries, the shop offers massages, manicures, ice cream and all proceeds help feed, clothe and provide shelter and support for women in need.
There’s no guarantee that The Period Shop (138 Fifth Ave between 18th and 19th Sts. Fri 11am–9pm; Sat, Sun 11am–6pm) will ease menstrual cramps, but celebrating the beauty of womanhood is a positive relief we can totally get behind.
