The Mariinsky Ballet…in Brooklyn? What would have seemed ludicrous a dozen years ago is a reality. The Brooklyn Academy of Music will host the Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg beginning January 15 in Rodion Shchedrin’s opera The Enchanted Wanderer and the Mariinsky Ballet in Swan Lake; “Chopin: Dances for Piano,” a program featuring Michel Fokine’s Chopiniana, Jerome Robbins’s In the Night and Benjamin Millepied’s Without; and—hooray!—Alexei Ratmansky’s 2002 production of Cinderella. Just take a look at the charming Diana Vishneva as the title character: exciting.
Tickets go on sale December 8. If you're worried, there are two ways to purchase sooner: become a BAM member or sign up for multiple performances.
