Anyone who’s been to Greenpoint pizzeria hotspot Paulie Gee’s knows that as amazing as the creative pies are, the wait time for a table can be decidedly less so.

Now, pizza lovers can get the best of both worlds. Restaurant owner Paul Giannone is planning on opening a classic New York slice spot and sports bar around the corner from his current restaurant. Paulie Gee’s Slice Joint will open at 110 Franklin Street (at Noble) later this year. It will focus on simpler pizzas like pepperoni, plain and Sicilian.

“The spirit is an old ‘60s New York slice joint,” Giannone tells Eater. “There’s a big demand in the neighborhood.”

The new, more casual spot will also serve wine and beer at the bar.

Check out some preview pics that Paulie Gee Instagrammed two days ago to get a sneak peek of the new space. The simple, retro vibe looks like it will be a far cry from the rustic, heavy wood of his namesake restaurant.
