It's Monday, everyone's favorite day of the week, where New Yorkers across the city awake and say, "Man, I sure hope there's a chance I'll be stuck on a train underground for an hour this morning. What an adventure that would be!"
Well, that really happened to some very unlucky commuters this morning around 8:30am. Because of mechanical issues on the 7 train, more than 500 passengers were trapped under the East River while the tunnel filled with smoke, otherwise known as your worst nightmare come true. A rescue train was finally brought in to get the panicked passengers out of there, but surely not before some deep psychological damage was done.
Service has resumed with delays between Hunters Point and Times Square... if you dare. Check out some of our favorite tweets from the incident below:
True life: walking was faster than the #7train or the bus. ?

Dear 7 train: You're kinda like a crappy boyfriend--I can't depend upon you AT ALL.

Had they focused on fixing trains rather than making politeness ads, this wouldn't have happened. http://t.co/MSXtxqUtCc
