L train shutdown update: UberPool will offer $2.75 rides from Brooklyn to Manhattan

Good news L train-ers: This is the last weekend you have to endure without the helL train. For those of you who don’t know about the life-ruining struggle, the borough-to-borough train service has been suspended every weekend since April 17.

It’s been a dark couple of weeks for many Brooklynites, but there’s some light at the end of (subway) tunnel. UberPool originally offered $5 rides between Manhattan and Williamsburg and now that we’re in the home stretch, the on-demand car service is offering an even better deal.

To promote its new-ish carpooling service, UberPool will offer would-be straphangers stranded in Williamsburg cheap rides ($2.75) from the East River waterfront to the west, Queens to the east, Flushing Avenue to the south and drop you off anywhere close to an L train stop in Brooklyn or Manhattan. That’s the same price as a MetroCard swipe. Speaking of which—you’re probably not getting enough use out of your expensive monthly transit pass this month due to the shutdown, right? We know; we’re only rubbing salt in the wound. But you know what will cheer you up? Free ice cream!

Ask for a print-copy of your UberPool receipt and venture to The Meatball Shop in Williamsburg for a free Ice Cream Sandwich (with a meal purchase) through Sunday. #Blessed.
