After years of renovations Tavern on the Green reopened in April, but the restaurant only recently put James-Beard–award–winning chef Jeremiah Tower at the helm in the kitchen. Today his lunch menu was released, with dinner to follow in the New Year. On the daytime docket, Tower merges Californian cuisine with East Coast staples, as seen in dishes like lobster soup with roe butter and chicken cobb salad with Brown Derby dressing.
The 71-year-old chef—best known for his time at Chez Panisse, where he became partner alongside Alice Waters, and his own San Francisco restaurant, Stars—has come out of retirement to reinvent the menus at the Central Park landmark. Check out the full list of new offerings:
