Hot dog ice cream is happening in New York

They've given us black-as-night coconut-ash ice cream and an entire week devoted to Kanye-inspired scoops—now Morgenstern's Finest is rolling out a hot dog-themed gelato treat as part of its July-long "Heavy Hitters" collaboration between Nicholas Morgenstern and legendary chef Daniel Boulud.
 
Available from July 1 until Independence Day at both the Lower East Side ice-cream parlor and Boulud's Bowery restaurant DBGB Kitchen and Bar, the DGBG Cool Dog features a tube-rolled gelato of crème anglaise and roasted DBGB hot dogs, topped with candied green cabbage, spicy honey mustard and berry "ketchup" on a toasted brioche bun. The DB4C (July 5–10)
A bittersweet coffee-caramel-cardamom ice cream topped with cocoa nibs

The Crac en Bouche (July 11–17)
A sweet homage to Boulud's native Lyon, France made with praline-infused ice cream and toasted almond nougatine inside an oversized choux à la crème

The Bora Bora (July 18–24)
A French-Polynesian number that sports mango-pineapple-strawberry sorbet with orchidea-spiced meringue

The Cannelé d'Or (July 25–31)
An ice-cream ode to the Bordeaux pastry classic, with a buttered-rum ice cream infused with cannelé batter, sprinkled with cannelé crust and crowned with gold leaf
