New Yorkers have a soft spot for fried chickenTime Out-ers included (a crispy bird topped our 100 Best Dishes & Drinks of 2014 list)—so imagine the excitement when we heard one of Brooklyn's most beloved havens for frizzled fowl is spreading its wings and expanding to Manhattan. Sarah Sanneh's down-and-dirty Southern spot Pies 'n' Thighs, a Williamsburg favorite since opening in 2006, will unveil a second location on Canal Street. The lunch-counter–inspired joint will have a heavy focus on sandwiches, along with staples like those flaky sweet biscuits, crackly-skinned drumsticks and, of course, pie. Stay tuned for further details.

UPDATE: The Southern-fried favorite will open in mid-January with a new menu that includes additions like a sweet sourdough doughnut, collard-green salad with pickled red onions and smoked coconut, and herb-chicken dumpling soup. Delivery will roll out a few weeks after the new location opens its doors, with weekday breakfast and lunch running from 9am–4pm and daily dinners from 5pm–midnight. On the weekend, expect a blown-out brunch menu from 10am–4pm.
