Founded in 1932 by Pat Kelly, who came ahead of her husband from Ireland to establish the place, Kelly’s is simplicity itself. The proprietors supply the beer and liquor, a dartboard and a jukebox filled with classic rock; the patrons provide the ambience and entertainment. Current owner John Nolan, a son of one of the Nolan brothers who bought the bar from the Kelly family, says the joint still draws the same neighborhood blue-collar crowd it always has. And why would they ever leave? Kelly’s serves 50-cent drafts and $1 malt liquors every day of the week
