Like many youngish painters, Aluf, an Israeli artist who lives and works in New York, bounces between figuration and abstraction with a loose, painterly style and imagery that suggests fantasies or dreams but which is sometimes based on the artist’s recall of actual events—some quite strange. Enigmatic, but definitely evincing their fair share of visual pleasures, his paintings often speak to deep, unnamed obsessions. Through Oct 11.
