Time Out says

Hoping to inspire others to bring more joy to their lives through art, artist and author Rebecca Schweiger founded The Art Studio NY in 2004. They now offer hundreds of drawing and painting classes, as well as private sessions, birthday parties, and corporate events. The Art Studio NY is passionate about making art accessible to students of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. All participants are encouraged to relax and feel free to make mistakes. Rebecca hopes that her students gain a sense of confidence from their creative endeavors and believes that art can help people reduce stress and reconnect with their expressive desires.

Courses at The Art Studio NY are available in-person and live online. The available classes teach skills for watercolor, oil, and acrylic paints. They also range in skill level, from beginner up to advanced. For example, beginners may prefer the Beginner Oil Painting program, where they will create several finished paintings while learning essential techniques and receive plenty of one-on-one guidance. More experienced artists can check out the Abstract Acrylic Painting Class, which targets more complex techniques like custom color mixing and palette knife paint application.

The classes at The Art Studio NY aren’t just for painters. The school has some more unique offerings, like a meditative art journaling class and a drawing class for aspiring cartoonists or comic book artists. There are also courses available for young artists, like the Summer Art Safari for children ages 6-11. This is a five-week course where students explore two museums and one park each week.

Classes at The Art Studio NY frequently receive positive reviews from participants. Students especially enjoy the fact that many classes are held at the MET museum; they get to draw inspiration from their surroundings and learn more about art as they create their own. Former students also report that the instructors are patient, kind, and enthusiastic, frequently calling out how clear it is that they enjoy what they do. Courses for beginners are often described as being thorough, well-paced, and smoothly run.
