This German artist is known for appropriating archival images to create enigmatic photographic juxtapositions that play upon the relationship between sex and violence. His latest show represents a bit of a departure since he took the photos himself, focusing on ads printed on the back doors of trucks. Piller elided the texts from each ad, leaving the subjects —all women—in a visual limbo. All that remains is the body language and facial expressions ordinarily used to sell something—come-ons that are left invisible here.
