Laurie Simmons, "The Love Doll: Days 1–30"

This set of photographs documents a project that Simmons has pursued over the past two years: the acquisition of two high-end sex dolls from Japan. Beginning with the arrival of the first one in her home and the artist's timid interactions with this strange object, the early photographs give way to depictions of a greater degree of familiarity between photographer and subject, and culminate in images portraying the interaction between the first and second dolls.
