Kass has been known for her parodic twists on the work of Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha and Kenneth Noland, among others, making her sort of like the "Weird Al" Yankovic of postwar American art. This series plays off a mural Warhol created for the U.S. pavilion at the 1964 World’s Fair, which utilized mugshots of famous felons. Kass does the same in these works from the 1990s, only she's substituted well-known curators for criminals as an art-world inside joke.
