Broadway’s funniest and splashiest musical comedy in at least 400 years takes its playbook from The Producers and The Book of Mormon—anything-for-a-laugh gags wrapped in a solid structure, with a dash of sweet, emotional ballast. Brian d'Arcy James is splendid as an Elizabethan playwright trying to construct the world's first musical. Younger kids will definitely find it funny, but if you're concerned about innuendos and a few stage kisses, this may be a better pick for the older kids.
