Summer leaves NYC families on the prowl for the city's best kids' playgrounds and splash parks (because what's summer without a visit to Ancient Playground or Imagination Playground at Burling Slip?). What you may not know is that Governors Island NY is about to unleash one of the most impressive slide sets in NYC history (it opens in June 2016!). Governor's Island has had quite a summer already, especially with the introduction of new Island staple Play:ground, a Kickstarter-funded adventure playground made from awesome found materials.

Our friends at Governor's Island kindly shared some pictures of what to expect in...shall we say...the coolest corner of The Hills: Slide Hill. With four slides to choose from (in varying lengths), your kiddos will probably not be waiting very long for their turn.

There's plenty more to be on the lookout for too—Outlook Hill's much touted views of the Statue of Liberty, the Hills' sweeping green lawns, public art, prime lounging spots 70 feet above sea level and a perfect chilling spot right near the Island's amazing Hammock Grove (which your kids will also totally want to hang out on).

The Hills officially open to the public on July 19, 2016 so be sure to visit this summer!
