Time Out says

Comedian Jackie Gleason put Miami in the spotlight in the 1960s when he taped his TV show here. Back then, Sinatra and his pack were in the audience. Today, the crowds are as eclectic as the program. Recent performers include Il Volo, Alice in Chains and Sarah Silverman.

What’s on

Trap Karaoke

Trap Karaoke is more than an open mic—it’s a high-energy hip-hop party where the crowd is just as important as the performers. This traveling event popping up at the Fillmore in Miami Beach gives fans the chance to rap their favorite tracks onstage with a live DJ and an audience screaming along to every word. Based on the traditional karaoke format, participants add their name to a running list during the first hour, selecting a specific song or opting for a wild card pick if their preferred slot isn't available. Fifteen to 20 randomly selected fans will be chosen to take the stage. Arriving early is recommended if you've got your heart set on performing.
