While LA throws its hat into the ring for that other olympiad, it's already cemented its place as the host city for 2015's Special Olympics World Games. The weeklong competition, the largest sports and humanitarian event of its kind, is easily the biggest gathering in LA since the '84 Olympics. Over 7,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities will compete in 25 sports at venues everywhere from Long Beach to Encino. The opening ceremony takes place at the Coliseum on July 25.
