Old Town Pasadena got some new blood when the Market On Holly opened just off of the city's main drag. One part gourmet grocer, one part charming cafe, the husband-and-wife-owned shop has the cozy feel of a neighborhood gathering spot, but enough appeal and specialty items to draw people in from across town. Sit at the community table while dining on the market's own pastries and sandwiches, or take home a family dinner from the grab-and-go section, which offers items like meatloaf, salmon, heat-and-serve lasagna and house-made soups. It's also worth stocking up on the hand-picked coffees, teas, beer, wine, olive oils, cheeses, crackers and pastas from both local and international sources. Don't miss the bodega, which features farm fresh eggs, farmers market fruit, flowers, and small-bath ice cream.
