Things Boston really doesn't like: tea tariffs, the New York Yankees and now the 2024 Summer Olympics.

After Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh refused to sign a bid contract that would put the city's taxpayers at risk, the United States Olympic Committee announced today that Boston's 2024 bid was dead, according to the New York Times. The East Coast city's Olympic ambitions had grown increasingly unpopular after its selection as the US candidate city, beating out Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. earlier this year.

So where does that leave Los Angeles? We're not really sure yet. The USOC said it's exploring other options for 2024, which we can only assume include our formerly shortlisted city. The USOC has until September 15 to submit its applicant city to the International Olympic Committee. That's not a lot of time to put together a bid, but LA already has a freshly prepared plan as well as two Olympics' worth of venues. Make it happen, Mayor Garcetti.
