Pick out your best watch-party outfit, print out your ballots and stay away from Beverly Hills this Sunday. We can't wait to sit back and watch slightly tipsy, pretty people get trophies at this year's Golden Globes, but there are a few things you should know leading up to this weekend's festivities. Your questions (that you didn't even know you had), answered:
What's going on again?
The 73rd annual Golden Globes are this Sunday at the Beverly Hilton, hosted by Ricky Gervais. The telecast starts at 5pm PT with a red carpet beforehand. Fancy TV and film people will hand out awards to other fancy TV and film people. Everyone is notoriously tipsier at this award show than most of the others.
Will there be traffic?
The Beverly Hills Courier reports that there will be significantly more traffic as drivers are re-routed around the awards. Santa Monica Boulevard will be shut down from Wilshire Boulevard to the west end of the Beverly Hills city limits. Traffic on Wilshire will be redirected through residential streets.
Who decides this nonsense, the award show, not the traffic closures?
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which is a group of people—journalists, photographers, etc.—who mostly live outside of the US. They are very mysterious and it's a little unclear why we care what they think about us.

Should I, like, see these movies or something?
Up to you, but there were some good ones this year.
I'm going to need a drink to enjoy this, aren't I?
Maybe. But at least grab one at one of our favorite watering holes.
