4 great places to flirt at LAX

On my most recent trip out of Los Angeles, I became acutely aware of how gross people at the airport can be. I got sneezed on in security, watched a lady floss in terminal three and was practically in a threesome with a couple who couldn’t keep their hands off each other once our flight was delayed. Talk about finding love in a hopeless place! Alas, there are still plenty of opportunities to flirt from check-in to take-off, and it’s a great distraction from delays and airport weirdos.

1. The security line. You can start by seductively removing your jacket and shoes and showcasing all your most personal fluids in a one-quart bag. Just kidding, everyone is super stressed during security screening so save your love connections for after the pat-down!

2. The bar. Set up post at any one of the restaurants with a bar at LAX, and let the mingling begin. Please note it’s vital you sit at the bar and not a table because you’ll be way more approachable. Fair warning: there’s a fine line between being approached and being cornered, and people at the airport love to corner you — in my experience. Just remember, you always have an excuse to leave because you “have to go check on your flight.”

3. The terminal. If you’re more of a seat-dweller, pick a chair next to a babe and don’t be shy. The airport is a great place to talk to people because you already have so much in common: you’re traveling, you’re waiting, you’re bored. Try starting by asking if they're coming or going to find out if they’re visiting or live at your destination. If they’re from there, get some tips because locals know what’s up.

4. The plane. If you’re one of the lucky ones who gets a hot seatmate, your first move should be to introduce yourself. You’re going to be stuck next to this person for the length of your flight, so you may as well be friendly. Just gauge their eagerness to chat and don’t be that person who talks the entire flight if the interest isn’t mutual because then you’ll be the worst.
