Ultra trendy party goers dance the night away at the first ever silent disco in The View from The Shard, the visitor attraction at the top of Western Europe’s tallest building, 3rd December 2013. Music lovers use wifi headphones to enjoy their own music mix while dancing the night away over 1000ft above the capital.

Time Out says

What is it?

The very public progress of this mammoth building (just how do you keep a skyscraper under wraps?) ensured that, by the time of its completion in 2012, the Shard was a familiar part of London's skyline, visible from all over the city – contentiously so in the case of London's many protected views. Visitors are now flocking to the tripod-shaped, glass-clad building at London Bridge. At 1,017 feet high, it's London's tallest building, containing offices, apartments, a hotel and, most excitingly, The View from the Shard, a four-storey observatory deck on floors 68 to 72.

Why go?

To take in the impressive 360-views of London. From up in the sky, you'll see Tower Bridge, the Thames, Shakespeare's Globe, St Paul's Cathedral and many more!

Don't miss:

The open air skydeck on Level 72 where you can step outside, experience the atmosphere and enjoy the scenes at your own pace.

When to visit:

Opening hours vary depending on the events taking place at The Shard. You'll find updated information on the website.

Ticket info:

Tickets to The View from The Shard start at £28, with the all inclusive entry, which includes a glass of champagne, starting at £45.

Time Out tip:

Try out one of the restaurants at The Shard while you're there. We love Oblix, which offers a set menu of £30 per person.

What’s on

The Shard Christmas lights display

London’s tallest building dazzles over the city every festive season and 2024 is no different. This year, The Shard’s uppermost 20 storeys will be illuminated with lights inspired by some of the UK’s favourite traditional Christmas songs, including ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘The Twelve Days Of Christmas’, ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ and more. Each carol is represented by a 15-minute light sequence that will repeat every hour in the lights’ 5:30pm to midnight run time.
