To celebrate the release of Ice Age 5: Collision Course arriving on Blu-ray™ and DVD, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has teamed up with Love Food Hate Waste and AO.com to offer you the chance to win a brand spanking new Samsung fridge freezer or one of ten copies of the film on DVD.

But why a fridge freezer? Well, the Ice Age was of course pretty cold, and that’s always helpful when trying to keep food for longer. According to Love Food Hate Waste we throw away seven million tonnes of food each year, with more than half of this being perfectly okay to eat. So with that extra storage, they reckon you could save up to £60 a month. You like money, right?

Plus it's Christmas soon – a time when we dust off those elasticated trousers and prepare to move that belt buckle down a notch or two, readying ourselves for mountains of yuletide food, much of which will probably be wasted. But while we might be bulging at the seams, our bins don't have to be.

Love Food Hate Waste's research has found that families throw away up to £700 worth of food a year, with fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and bakery goods the biggest casualties. The UK as a whole wastes the equivalent of 1.5 million sausages, 24 million slices of bread and 5.8 million whole potatoes. That's quite a few bits of toast for breakfast and bangers and mash for dinner.

So if you want to be in with a chance of winning this very classy bit of refrigerating kit or one of the DVDs, just answer the simple question below. And remember, when Christmas is over and you've licked your bank account clean, you might well appreciate a bit of food in the freezer. January's hard enough...
