Following the success of a spring exhibition exploring the massive boom in skyscraper construction, this fresh investigation by New London Architecture looks at the capital's housing crisis. It's no secret that London is the place to be; the problem is that the capital's popularity means its population is now outstripping its housing supply. Following an international open call and newly commissioned independent research, this exhibition looks closely at the extent of the crisis and proposes innovative solutions. The investigation looks beyond construction to tackle issues including population growth and density, the living wage and the effect of the recession. Designers, architects, planners, developers and housing associations have submitted ideas ranging from policy changes to new construction techniques, coming up with solutions including floating homes, self-build projects and pop-up housing. Selected entries will be presented to the Greater London Authority to help shape the future of London's building stock. A series of talks, debates, site visits and seminars runs alongside the exhibition.
